With classes and exams ending (one essay to write!) the end of Junior Year is all but bittersweet. I would say that even though I have had one of the toughest years of schooling to date, I have grown so much. It's saddening to know that in less than 5 days, Sam and I will no longer be roommates. Sam has been the best roommate that I could have ever asked for (really Sam you have been). Being able to live with someone who understands the lifestyle I live and the crazy schedule that it entails is so amazing. I come home every night just being able to say anything about my day and what's to come and Sam would listen to it all, through the good and the bad. That is truly amazing and I know that I'm going to miss the time that Sam and I have shared together. I know that he is going to be doing amazing things when he moves to NYC this summer and I wish him all the best. Crazy to think that a year has gone by and while living in this house and I will cherish all the memories that Sam and I have shared.
But before I move out and get one step closer to my summer away in VA, this week still has to happen. I'll be going to see the show Sam is currently working on at Triad Stage called Steel Magnolias. I cannot wait to see this show and I get to see it with a very special guest. Sam's girlfriend Alex is coming into town this week and we get to go see the show together. This will be a very exciting evening for sure! Also, I get to attend a VIP party thing at the Durham Performing Arts Center to get a preview of the Broadway Season that will be coming to Durham next year. Who knows what will happen at this event, but I'm sure that it will be one to remember. Also, Sam's graduation ceremony is on Friday. I of course will be in attendance. I mean, how could I not? Seeing someone who has become a best friend to me graduate is of the utmost importance.
So, I mentioned something about the end of Junior Year being all but bittersweet. Here's where I get to that part. I've had a challenging year with my academics and have been pushed to the limit with what I can do, but in a good way. This year is also the same time that I have started to realize who I will be friends with beyond the hallowed streets of UNCG. It's going to be difficult not seeing them everyday for the next three months. Yes, of course there is social networking, and the vast advancements in technology in order to communicate with them, but not physically being around them is going to be difficult. I've put a lot of trust in these people and I just know that the summer is going to be different. I cannot wait until August arrives for when we can all be around each other again, but of course not until I have my summer away. But until then, I'll focus on what I've got left of this week and soak it all up while I still can.
